
Casino Crime News Roundup: Ex-Cop Convicted for Assaulting Guard
Last week, a former police officer was convicted of attacking a security guard at the MGM Grand Detroit casino.
A jury in Michigan convicted Kevin Yudt, 43, from Grass Lake, Mich., of multiple charges, including two counts of ethnic intimidation and one count of assault and battery. Yudt is scheduled for sentencing next month.
The event started when Yudt was barred from accessing the gaming venue on April 6, 2023, due to his apparent intoxication.
He informed the guard that he was a sergeant with the Westland Police Department and warned, “I’ll be here for you when you arrive in Westland, and you will not make it,” as reported by ClickOnDetroit.
The report stated that Yudt also jabbed the unnamed guard in the chest and shouted several racial slurs at him.
A month later, the report states that Yudt was dismissed by the police department.
Individual Wanted Following $60K Theft
Authorities are on the lookout for an individual who reportedly took $60,000 from a vehicle stationed at Oklahoma’s Choctaw Casino & Resort – Durant back in September.
The suspect reportedly shattered the front passenger window and took the money from the vehicle. The warrant accuses the suspect of burglary and grand larceny, as reported by Oklahoma TV station KXII.
The 45-year-old suspect, living in Plano, Texas, entered the vehicle twice to take items.
South Dakota Casino Stolen From
An unknown sum of money was taken from a casino in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on Monday.
According to Dakota News Now, an employee was approached by the suspect, who brandished a knife and ordered them to hand over the money. He grabbed the money and ran away from the location.
The suspect was characterized as a slender white male, approximately six feet in height. He wore dark attire.
Nobody was hurt.
Ohio Gaming Raids
Multiple unlawful gambling establishments were targeted last week in Akron, Ohio, as a result of a police inquiry.
According to the Akron Beacon Journal, authorities confiscated 150 gambling devices, $93,188 in cash, two handguns, and suspected narcotics during the searches.
Defendants were summoned to Akron Municipal Court for gambling offenses.
Certain locations that were raided included gambling establishments and others comprised liquor shops.
The inquiry by the police into questionable activity at the locations extended for seven months. A judge subsequently authorized search warrants for the activities.
